The Rev. Dr. Jennifer Harvey serves as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic Dean at Garret-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Prior to her time at Garrett, she served for nearly 20 years at Drake University as professor of religion, Faculty of the Crew Scholars Program and ultimately as Associate Provost of Campus Equity and Inclusion. She received her PhD in Christian Ethics from Union Theological Seminary in 2004. Dr. Harvey’s teaching and scholarship focuses primarily on racial justice and white anti-racism.

Dr. Harvey’s books include the New York Times Bestseller Raising White Kids: Bringing Up Children in Racially Unjust America and Dear White Christians: For Those Still Longing for Racial Reconciliation. Her public intellectual work has been published in the New York Times, CNN and other publications and she has appeared on nationally syndicated televisions and radio programs, including Good Morning America and CNN’s Town Hall on Racism with Sesame Street and NPR’s “All Things Considered” with Michel Martin and “It’s Been a Minute” with Sam Sanders. Her forthcoming book Antiracism as Daily Practice: Refuse Shame, Change White Communities and Help Create a Just World will be published by St. Martin’s Press in summer 2024.

Dr. Harvey is ordained in the American Baptist Churches (USA).
